Recently, many of our hosting clients have received emails from their own domains informing them that their mailbox settings have changed. These emails are NOT legitimate and should be ignored. The contents of the email include:
- Claims that your "SMTP and POP3 servers for your domain have changed"
- Subject is something like "setting for your mailbox
are changed" - Attached or linked zip file
If you are a TSP hosting customer, requests like this will never come from your domain. Notifications will always come from techsuperpowers.com. Additionally, no hosting provider will ever send changes in the form of a .zip file.
If you clicked on the .zip file and are a Mac user, then you are safe. No harm should have come upon your computer. If you are a PC user and clicked on the .zip file, please make sure your Malware and Anti-virus programs are up to date and run them as a precaution.
