In 2002, we opened our Tech Superpowers Internet Cafe alongside NewburyOpen.net, our free wireless network for Newbury Street. In 6 years, a lot has changed: technology is in every pocket and on everyone's mind: iPods, iPhones, Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr are part of everyday conversation.
We've evolved too, and in 2009 we'll be opening iCafe 2.0, called the "TSP Digital Lounge." It will be a great, more comfortable makeover, aimed at giving you a nice, high-tech respite from the busy street - as well as some state-of-the-art equipment for travellers and professionals.
One of the biggest changes is that we're hanging some of the most interesting and amazing photography related to technology, starting with a remarkable collection by photographer Bill Gallery.
Bill has worked on some of the earliest corporate photography from the formative years of "Apple Computer" (that was the name before it became just "Apple.") It's not just a trip down memory lane, Bill's remarkable reportage style gives you a unique and candid look at a company in the midst of creating a revolution 20 years ago.
Join us in this wonderful retrospective - to celebrate Apple and get a "sneak peek" at our new Digital Lounge. It's one more chapter of a history we've been lucky enough to be a part of in New England for almost 18 years.
To welcome Bill's work, we're hosting a Reception for the Artist on December 4th, from 6-9 PM. Please join us, meet Bill, see the changes to the Digital Lounge, and see some unique work you may not see anywhere else.
